Today we went to USA and were given a visual demonstration of how to react to a drowning incident as a lifeguard. We got to see a lifeguard dive in to save the dummy and the precautions taken to ensure everything that can be done is being done. We then talked with responsive aids and their first and experiences.
We also talked about the emotional aspects and responsibilities that come with this job. Being able to handle this job takes a large emotional toll on you. When hiring, the chief said he looked for emotionally tough and sturdy men and women.
