We were able to host two EMT's from USA who were able to help teach us on how to spine board
Spine boarding
During this skills lab, we had two women from USA come in and demonstrate how to spine board someone. We went through step by step to learn how to do this lab. It took us six people to carry the spine board. We learned about how to use and size a cervical collar, which is essential in spine boarding. We learned what you have to do and what assessments you have to make. They taught us how to strap them in and how to talk to the patient, given if they were conscious. It was an extremely easy, however very interesting skills lab.
Steps involved
when doing the spine board, we were able to see the different factors used in this specific area. Some included the neck brace, spine board, support blocks, and straps. They demonstrated how each one was essential.
